Our spine center

Before recommending surgery to relieve your symptoms, we explore more conservative treatment options, such as medication, physical therapy or injections. If surgery is required, we perform several different procedures, including:

  • Laminectomy — If muscle weakness or numbness are making it difficult for you to walk or stand, your care team might recommend a laminectomy. During this surgery, our specialists enlarge your spinal canal, relieving pressure on your spinal cord or nerves.
  • Microdiscectomy — This minimally invasive surgical procedure is used to treat herniated discs. When a herniated disc compresses a spinal nerve, you might experience pain, muscle weakness and difficulty performing repetitive motions.
  • Spinal fusion — By connecting two or more bones in your spine, this surgery can make your spine stronger and more stable. If you have scoliosis, then spinal fusion might be useful because it reshapes your spine. This treatment approach also benefits individuals living with severe spinal arthritis.
  • Tumor excisions — During this surgery, your care team removes spinal tumors to stabilize your spine. Our surgeons work together to restore the spine where your tumor was removed.
  • Vertebral fracture repairs — Also called a vertebroplasty, this surgery treats fractures in your vertebrae. Your surgical team will inject cement into a cracked or broken spinal bone to help relieve your pain and restore your mobility. Vertebral fracture repairs are often used to treat compression fractures caused by osteoporosis.
