Emergency care

Emergency care is the treatment of unexpected, severe medical injuries or infections. It is typically delivered in an emergency room or an ambulance. Our emergency medicine physicians stabilize your condition as quickly as possible to prepare you for the next step of care or discharge.

  • Stroke

Specialized care within our ERs

Within our hospital system, we offer a range of services to quickly and effectively treat unexpected medical concerns, including advanced heart attack and stroke care.

Chest pain and heart attack treatment

Chest pain that feels like pressure or squeezing can be a warning sign of a heart attack. Women may experience atypical symptoms, such as pain in the arm, neck or jaw. Any chest pain should be evaluated promptly. If you have chest pain or suspect you're having a heart attack, we provide care at our six ER locations, which include three freestanding ERs.

For specialized services, our emergency rooms at Parkridge Medical Center in downtown Chattanooga and Parkridge East Hospital in East Ridge are certified Chest Pain Centers. These facilities are equipped with advanced technology and expert staff to quickly diagnose and treat chest pain and offer a range of services including cardiac catheterization labs and comprehensive imaging.

Stroke diagnosis and treatment

Emergency rooms at Parkridge Medical Center and Parkridge East Hospital are both certified as Advanced Primary Stroke Centers by The Joint Commission, ensuring the highest standards of care in the event of a stroke.

Extending access beyond our hospitals, we offer an innovative telestroke program designed for situations where in-person care is not immediately available. Through this program, neurology specialists at our hospitals collaborate with local emergency healthcare providers in real time to evaluate your condition and recommend the most effective treatment plan, bringing expert stroke care closer to patients when every second counts.

Freestanding emergency care center locations

In addition to our hospital-based ERs, we also provide 24/7 adult and pediatric emergency care at our freestanding emergency rooms. Located close to where you live and work, our freestanding ERs treat all types of injuries and illnesses.

We have three freestanding ERs conveniently located across the region, including north Chattanooga, East Ridge and Soddy-Daisy.

Each freestanding ER features:

  • Board-certified emergency medicine physicians, specially trained nurses and support teams available 24/7
  • On-site lab testing and advanced imaging
