Join our dedicated team of volunteers and play a vital role in delivering compassionate care to our community.

Thank you for your interest in the Parkridge Health System Volunteer program and for your commitment to making a difference in the lives of our patients, families and staff.

Parkridge Health System Volunteers are expected to exemplify our iCARE values: Integrity, Compassion, Accountability, Respect and Excellence. We work closely with all volunteers to find assignments that best match their interests, skills, talents and motivation.

Volunteer opportunities:

  • Patient and visitor support
  • Hospital department support
  • Mail, flower and gift deliveries
  • Pet therapy (certification required)
  • Greeting and wayfinding support
  • Chaplain activities
  • Hospital special event support

Volunteer expectations:

  • Provide appropriate customer service to all patients, visitors, physicians and colleagues while showing courtesy, compassion and respect.
  • Demonstrate good problem-solving abilities by ensuring issues are resolved immediately or by contacting other knowledgeable parties to assist.
  • Choose appropriate channels and times to discuss issues/complaints with the Volunteer Coordinator.
  • Maintain the strictest patient confidentiality by following hospital patient privacy rules.
  • Participate in continuous quality improvement activities by making suggestions for improvement and fostering positive changes.
  • Keep Volunteer Coordinator informed of daily activities and developments.
  • Perform assignments adequately and submits weekly timesheets as instructed.
  • Maintain good attendance and is consistently on time.
  • Stay informed regarding hospital and department issues by attending meetings and reading provided correspondence.
  • Actively participate in personal development plans by attending hospital-provided training and professional development activities.
  • Actively participate in the team spirit of the area or unit assigned, helps to accomplish the department’s mission and lends a helping hand to other members of the team as appropriate.
  • Adhere to environment of care standards, including life safety, fire safety, and infection control.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the HCA Healthcare Ethics and Compliance program, as evidenced by participation in hospital-provided periodic training and adherence to regulations and policies.
  • Display a clean, neat appearance in adherence to the hospital dress code policy.
  • Possess basic computer knowledge, has a valid phone number with active voice mailbox and has a valid email address.

Volunteer requirements:

  • Must be 16 years of age or older.
  • If you are interested in serving as a Parkridge Health System Volunteer, email Kristi Delaney to begin the application process.
  • Once an application is completed, you will be contacted for an interview and further instructions regarding:
    • Completing a successful background check.
    • Completing fingerprinting process (for behavioral health only).
    • Meeting occupational health requirements, including annual TB screening, flu shot, MMR and Varicella immunity and TDAP; COVID-19 vaccinations if applicable.
    • Attending new hire/volunteer orientation.
    • Participating in a minimum of 3 to 4 volunteer hours per week for at least 6 months.

Note: There may be a waiting period to be notified of clearance to begin an assignment due to processing time required, the volume of applications and orientation class scheduling.
