Dewayne Wilson: Top of the line emergency care at Parkridge
Dewayne Wilson, an EMS veteran, came to Parkridge East for the best emergency care in Chattanooga.
Emergencies happen. Dewayne Wilson knows that better than most.
A long time veteran of the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) field, Wilson has seen his fair share of medical emergencies and knows how important it is to get the right care at the right time.
Wilson shares awesome stories of working on movie sets as the onsite medical provider for many productions in Georgia, including some of the highest-grossing movies of the past decade, namely the Marvel Studios blockbusters.
“Anthony Mackie is the nicest. Chadwick Boseman, who passed away, was one of the coolest, down-to-earth guys you’ll meet,” he said. “Chris Pratt and Chris Hemsworth are the funniest.”
When he’s not hanging out with movie stars, he also provides onsite medical services for the Brainerd Optometrist Dragstrip, Calhoun Motocross, North Georgia Speedway, and local rodeos.
Another story he recently relayed was about his experience at Parkridge East Hospital because when it was his turn to need emergency care he came to the Parkridge East ER after continued pain that ended with a need for gallbladder surgery.
“I came to Parkridge East ER in October. Waited 12 minutes, got an IV in 20 minutes; pain meds; doctor came in within 30 minutes and scheduled a CT with contrast,” he recalled.
Wilson raved about the nurses, doctors and support staff throughout his experience and expressed how thankful he was for everyone.
“Everyone was absolutely amazing,” he said. “I was blown away how smoothly my visit went.”
After his visit to the ER, he had the successful surgery within a couple weeks. This was his first surgery since 1995, but he was grateful for the level of personal care and professionalism from Parkridge colleagues through the entire process.
“I’ve been in ERs all of my life and to be able to receive that kind of service, courteous and on time, in-and-out, is good.”
Wilson is well on his road to recovery and was able to get back to work shortly after his surgery.
“I’ve had zero issues. Period. I can’t be happy enough with how things turned out.”
Thank you, Dewayne, for sharing your story, and thank you to our colleagues for caring like family.
