Parkridge Medical Center receives approval to build freestanding emergency room in Cleveland
Nashville, Tenn. — Parkridge Medical Center announced today that the Tennessee Health Facilities Commission has approved its Certificate of Need application to build a new freestanding emergency room in Cleveland, marking a major step forward in expanding access to emergency care for families across Bradley and Polk counties.
The approval allows Parkridge Medical Center to move forward with construction of the Parkridge Cleveland ER, a freestanding emergency room designed to bring high-quality emergency services closer to where patients live and work.
“This is a tremendous win for the people of Cleveland, Bradley and Polk counties,” said Chris Cosby, chief executive officer of Parkridge Medical Center. “Today’s decision is about improving access to emergency care, reducing travel times when minutes matter most and ensuring families have more choices close to home.”
The now approved $17.4 million emergency room will be located at the intersection of Blackburn Road and APD-40 (US 64 & SR 60) in Bradley County and would operate as a satellite of Parkridge Medical Center’s main emergency department in Chattanooga.
The facility will operate 24/7, accept all major insurance providers, including TennCare, and feature 11 treatment rooms, a trauma room, laboratory services and imaging.
“We are incredibly grateful to the community leaders, residents and healthcare advocates who spoke in support of this project,” Cosby said. “Their voices made clear that expanding emergency access is a priority for this region, and we are proud to deliver on that need.”
Once completed, the Parkridge Cleveland ER will be staffed by board-certified emergency physicians and trained nurses. The facility is expected to enhance emergency response capacity while complementing existing healthcare services in the area.
